Christian Whiton (pronounced wī-tən) is an American foreign policy expert and businessman. He was a State Department official in the George W. Bush administration, in which he served as the Deputy Special Envoy, advising senior administration officials on policy, communications and programmatic activities related to transnational issues.
Whiton is the president of the Hamilton Foundation and a principal at DC Asia Advisory.
Whiton is a frequent writer and commentator on foreign policy and security issues. He has been an advocate of supporting the democracy movement in Iran. Writing with Paula Dobriansky, he called for applying steps of the Ukrainian Orange Revolution to Iran. He sought financial sanctions against the government of North Korea, and a closer partnership with Japan.
